We have released EnerScale Closed Beta Version 6, which is currently available for limited access. In this version, we have added a feature to evaluate the environmental value of solar panels assessed on the EnerScale platform. In particular, this feature quantitatively evaluates the environmental life cycle value of data-assessed solar panels in the following scenarios:
- Replacing a PV panel with a new one every 10 years within the 30-year time frame (total 3 panels)
- Replacing a PV panel with a new one every 15 years within the 30-year time frame (total 2 panels)
- Completing the 30-year useful lifetime of a PV panel by reusing a panel (changing owner and location once, total 1 panel)
- Using the same panel beyond its 30-year useful lifetime by reusing a panel (changing owner and location once, total 1 panel)
The evaluation is based on data used for assessment, analysis results, and generalized parameters such as environmental impact indicators for transportation, panel repair, and panel replacement.
This feature helps users to understand which option is more environmentally beneficial quantitatively: (1) reuse PV panels until their useful life ends or (2) recycle old PV panels with remaining useful life and replace them with new panels. This feature can be used as a life cycle indicator to utilize solar panels for as long as possible and to curb the overproduction of solar panels.
Key Features:
- Evaluate four life cycle scenarios: 10, 15, 30, and more than 30 years
- Factors in scenarios such as inverter replacement, junction box replacement, and transportation of used PV panels
- Linked with the performance prediction feature for reused panels (calculating transportation scenarios based on coordinates)
EnerScale is currently in the R&D phase and available only to select partners. If you are interested in implementing our technology to provide services or wish to conduct a joint Proof of Concept (PoC), please feel free to contact us.
